How to use the Discount Calculator

- See the amount saved and the final price.
Working out the real sale price
A discount removes a percentage of the original price: 30 percent off 2,500 takes away 750, leaving 1,750. The calculator also runs the reverse, telling you the percentage saved when you know both prices, which is handy for judging whether a deal is as big as the tag claims.
Stacked discounts do not add up
The classic trap: 20 percent off followed by an extra 10 percent off is not 30 percent off. The second discount applies to the already reduced price, so the true total is 28 percent. On big numbers the difference is real money, and stores rely on shoppers adding the percentages in their head. Enter the discounts in sequence and the calculator shows the genuine final price.
