Why shoe sizes don't line up across countries
US, UK and EU sizing systems each measure foot length on a different scale with a different starting point, so a "size 9" means a different foot length depending on the system. EU sizes (Paris points) are based on foot length in centimeters, UK sizes use a barleycorn (1/3 inch) scale, and US sizes add an offset on top of the UK scale that differs between men's and women's charts. CM (foot length) is the one truly universal measurement, which is why it's included here.
